Bangladesh to discuss renewal of capacity building MOU with India

A high-level delegation from Bangladesh will visit India to discuss the renewal of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for providing capacity building training to Bangladesh civil servants, a PIB press release stated.

The delegation, led by Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), V. Srinivas, will hold bilateral talks with senior officials of the Bangladesh Ministry of Public Administration on a three-day visit, beginning on April 28.

The talks will focus on the mid-career capacity building programmes in field administration for Bangladesh civil servants, which have been jointly implemented by the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) of India and the Bangladesh Ministry of Public Administration since 2014. As part of the bilateral collaboration, 71 capacity building programmes have been organized and over 2600 Bangladesh civil servants have visited the National Centre for Good Governance since 2014.

The Bangladesh government has emphasized the importance of these training programmes and expressed interest in renewing the MOU to further strengthen the civil service and improve public service delivery in the country. The visit is the first in the new year as both the countries have expressed their commitment to enhancing the capacity of civil servants and improving the public service delivery in Bangladesh.
