Mizoram: Over 73% polling recorded till 4 pm

Over 73 per cent voter turnout has been recorded till 4 pm in Mizoram assembly polls on Wednesday.

Giving this information, Chief Electoral Officer Ashish Kundra said, average turnout is likely to go up as polling was still going on after 4 pm in some polling stations in Aizawl.

He said, the maximum turnout of 81 per cent has been recorded in Serchhip district, while the lowest 65 per cent in Aizawl district till 4 pm.

Mr Kundra said, the turnout of Bru voters from Tripura relief camps, who have been brought to Kanhmun of Mizoram to cast votes, has been recorded 52 per cent.

He said, there was no report of any untoward incident from any part of the state. A total of 209 candidates are in the fray for the elections.

There are total 7,70,395 voters in the state to elect 40-seated legislative assembly.
