Three J&K policemen martyred in an attack on Minority police picket in Shopian. JeM Claims responsibility

In another dastardly act terrorists opened fire and hurled grenades on a minority picket in Zainapora in Shopian district. As per the latest reports available with our network, a JKP post came under heavy attack around afternoon today in Zainapora.

The policemen were deployed at the police post guarding Kashmiri pandit locality at Zainpora village. A group of terrorists whose number is not known yet attacked the post this afternoon and hurled grenades leading to casualty of three J&K Police personnel on spot and injuring the fourth severely. The deceased police persons were identified as Abdul Majid, Manzoor Ahmed and Mohammed Amin.

There are reports of weapon snatching as well, from the incident site. A senior police officer also confirmed the death of three policemen and injuries to another.

He said that the cops were guarding the minority community in the area. Soon after the attack, a joint team of army and SOG launched a massive hunt to nab the assailants.

In the meanwhile, we have reports that Jaish e Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack. Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has said, “Its men carried out a fierce attack on government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday, and snatched four rifles from them. A JeM spokesperson. JeM has posted the pics of four SLR rifles snatched from J&K Police in this attack.
