In an extra ordinary General Body meeting of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust held today here at Jammu, the members of the Trust unanimously elected Ch. Abdul Hamid, a renowned young entrepreneur and a prominent social worker, as new Chairman of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust.
While as, Ch. Mohammed Hanief Chouhan, a former KAS Officer, who has served the state in various capacities, has been elected as Sr. Vice Chairman, besides Chairman and Sr. Vice Chairman, Mst. Nighat Sultana, (KCS) Judicial, presently working as District & Sessions Judge, has been entrusted the responsibility of Vice-Chairperson. Ch. Bashir Ahmed Noon, serving in a Govt of India undertaking at a higher post and Ch. Mohd. Yousuf Khepar have been assigned the role of General Secretary and Treasurer respectilvely.
Ch. Salam-Ud-Din Bajad, belonging to Kashmir valley, a retired Senior Central Govt. Officer, has been given the responsibility of Secretary of the Trust.
Mr. Masud A. Choudhary, Paton-in-Chief of the Trust, Former Addl. Director General of J&K Police and Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University presided over the meeting. While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Choudhary lauded the work done by the outgoing team headed by Ch. Ali Hussain Hakla, who have served the society dedicatedly, honestly and took the same to new heights during his tenure of three years.
The former Chairmen of the Trust Ch. Bashir Ahmed Bania, Haji Allah Rahim, Master Hashim Ali and Ch. Ahsan Ullah also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the contributions of the outgoing team and expressed the hope that new incumbents will also work with enthusiasm, dedication and make sincere efforts to ensure the future progress of the society in achieving the aims and objectives for the general welfare of the down trodden Gujjar Tribe.
Ch. Abdul Hamid and his team assured the General Body of the society that they will leave no stone unturned in achieving the future goals of the society, he added. The others who were present and spoke during the meeting and welcomed the new team included Ch. Shah Mohd. Sr. Advocate, Ch. Sajjad Majeed, Ch. Bashir Ahmed Khatana, Ch. Farooq Alam, Ch. Arshad Ali, Ch. Haroon Rashid, Ch. Mohd. Bashir, Retired Tehsildar, Ch. Shoukat Gujjar and many others.
