A film festival specially made for the visually challenged kids of the city was organised today by Radio Mirchi 98.3 at KC Theatre at 10 AM where the students of The Blind School, Roop Nagar, Jammu were fascinated by the Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift. The movie was exclusively designed by Saksham foundation. Radio Mirchi 98.3 RJs, Mirchi Shwetima, Mirchi Nishant and Mirchi Nikki who host their shows daily from the studio struck a chord with the adorable kids and the sparks of love could be visible in their eyes.  Kaano Dekhi Festival is a special initiative by the MirchiCares group, conducted throughout India for kids who have restricted vision that stops them from enjoying movies. Through the special narration of movies, Mirchi 98.3 FM tries to bring enjoyment to their lives.

Radio Mirchi 98.3 started their operation in Jammu formally with the Honourable CM of J&K on 10th of October and after that the city had no looking back. Shwetima leads the morning show from 7am to 11 am with a fan base increasing at an exponential rate on daily basis. She loves to stay happy no matter what and equally loves to stay full. Her love for food can be gauged from the fact that in her bag, you will always find two tiffins – empty, because she ate them before you found them.

Nikki on the other hand is a late comer, who is always running to be on time. But she is never late for her show that is from 2 – 5 PM daily as she loves her job more than her studies – yes she is still a student of Govt. College for Women, Parade and with the tight schedule she is in, college plus job, she eats treadmill for breakfast and dumbbells for lunch, to keep herself going.

Nishant is a ticking trickster, mocking, humouring all the time and his veins have sarcasm, if not blood. His witty show that starts at 5 PM everyday will tickle all your bones, funny and unfunny.

For  the celebrations of Children’s Day, on 13th November, specially-abled kids from various NGOs were welcomed in the Radio Mirchi 98.3’s studios and a great interaction session with them helped cheer up the whole place. After the studio session, they were accompanied by our RJs to the restaurant- Barbeque Nation where a sumptuous lunch was awaiting them. This brought tears to the eyes of the RJs who insisted on spreading the message that gratitude is the greatest asset of mankind.

Sehyog Trust and Serving Humanity NGO joined hands to contribute to the food and transportation requirements respectively. Heritage-Strings also performed in front of the students singing their much loved numbers, adding more fizz to their cold drinks and eatables. The event was also attended by Pradeep Dutta who is a senior news editor at Times Now, and also an exceptional poet. His poem in the interval overwhelmed the kids and their joy was immeasurable.

Speaking on the occasion, the Station Head of Radio Mirchi 98.3 ,J&K, Sumit Kakkar mentioned that, “Radio Mirchi is not just a Radio Station, it’s a brand that cares and where people of Jammu matter. We believe in entertaining the city to the fullest and also propagating khushi in every way that we can.” Khushboo Mattoo, who heads the Programming for J&K added that it is these initiatives that bring changes in the city and that bring happiness in the true sense.
