I-Day arrangements discussed at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR JULY 23: To discuss the arrangements for Independence Day function 2018, a meeting of officers of different departments was held here today with District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar in the chair.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, Rayees Bhat, Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, PO ICDS, Rimpy Ohri, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Subash Dogra, Assistant Commissioner Development, Noor Alam Executive Engineers, PHE, PDD and PWD, District Information Officer, Sajad Bashir Somberia, District Social Welfare Officer, Vipan Bhagat, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K.C Dogra District Youth Service and Sports Officer, Sudesh Kumar besides senior officers of, CRPF and Army.

It was decided in the meeting that the main function would be held in the premises of Government PG College for Boys where the VIP would unfurl the National flag and take salute at the march past by the contingents drawn from District Police, SKPA, NCC and students of various government and private educational institutions. The school children would also present cultural programmes featuring items on patriotic and educative themes.

Threadbare discussion was held regarding the arrangements of seating, barricading, security, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, first-aid, deployment of buses and fire-tenders etc.

The DDC directed the engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD to ensure effective arrangements of barricading, seating and drinking water besides uninterrupted power supply on the day of function.

The Executive Officer, Municipality was asked for proper cleanliness of college ground and town well in advance. The Chief Medical Officer was asked to deploy ambulance with staff and medicines at the venue of the function.

District and Traffic Police was asked to deploy adequate number of personnel for security and traffic regulation on the day. It was decided that Assistant Regional Transport Officer shall make arrangement of Buses for the general public at the venue.

A committee of officers was constituted to frame criteria for finalizing the list of outstanding students to be awarded on the National Day.

Important Government buildings and offices would be illuminated well in advance of national day, the meeting decided.

The celebrations of the National Day would start with the playing of Shehnai Vadan by the District Information Centre in the wee hours of the day.

The DDC asked the departments to maintain close rapport and coordination so that all arrangements are completed well in time.
