DDC reviews situation of flashflood-hit areas in Kangan

GANDERBAL, JULY 24: The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla today reviewed the situation arising out of flash flood hitting several areas of Kangan.

Incessant rains and a cloudburst over the catchment area of Kulan and Najwan Nallah have led to waterlogging in several parts of the Kangan, besides damaging some parts of the road at Preng, Hayan and Akhal. The meeting was informed that water supply pipes in several areas have been damaged and various areas especially Yanhama, Hayan, Palpora, Preng and Akhal suffer waterlogging.

Dr Singla directed the SDM Kangan to ensure all the problems are redressed at the earliest. He also directed for making arrangements for de-silting the Kulan Nallah so as to stop further damage, besides strengthening and raising the embankments of the river. He assured prompt disbursement of ex-gratia relief, as per the norms after proper assessment of damage report.

SDM Kangan informed that Executive Engineer of I&FC has already deployed men and machinery to clear the silt and mud from Kulan Nallah and to clear the roads off boulders and mud for an immediate restoration of vehicular traffic.
