Ramban: DDC reviews preparedness for Panchayat, ULB polls

RAMBAN, JULY 24: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today chaired a meeting of officers to review arrangements for Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies Elections.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Vevaik Puri, CPO Uttam Singh, DPO, Tariq Suhrawardy, ADs of Planning besides, BDOs, EOs of all three Municipalities and Election Naib Tehsildar.

The DDC directed the all concerned departments to keep men and machinery in ready mode and update the officials about their duties, role and responsibility towards facilitating free, fair, transparent and smooth elections in the district.

Meanwhile, the DDC took a comprehensive review of performance of RDD including achievements under flagship schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), besides Geo-tagging of assets, Aadhaar seeding, progress in construction of IHHL units, job card verification, MIS and other mandatory procedures. He directed the DPO and all BDOs to accelerate the pace of work to achieve the target of ODF district within prescribed time.

The DDC also reviewed the working of Municipal Committees Ramban, Banihal and Batote and directed them to act effectively and cautiously, particularly while granting building permissions. He also directed the EOs to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation in their respective towns, keep vigil on encroachment of roads and foot paths by the street vendors to avoid inconvenience to the common public.

He asked the concerned departments to work in close coordination for better implementation of the schemes and welfare programmes.
