JAMMU, JULY 25: Director Agriculture Jammu, Hari Krishan Razdan, accompanied by Director Command Area Development, S. Jatinder Singh, visited the farmers’ fields at Jakh, Sarore and other areas of Samba District to monitor the progress of various Farmers’ welfare schemes and programmes.
Both Directors jointly inaugurated the Milky Mushroom Cultivation Unit at Mushroom Demonstration and Training Centre at RakhDhiansar.
Interacting with the farmers at RakhDhiansar, Director Agriculture said that the cultivation of Milky mushroom has been introduced for the first time in Samba District to fill the gap between the Button and Dhingri Mushroom crops to achieve round the year production of mushrooms. He asked them to diversify their farming through apiculture, mushroom, seed production, vegetable cultivation and adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022.
Director Command Area Development, on the occasion advised the farmers to adopt integrated farming approach and to gainfully utilize their lean time in alternative agri-enterprises.
Later, the Director reviewed the working of field staff of Samba Sub-Division. He directed the field functionaries to reach out to the farmers field to make them aware of various farmers welfare schemes like Soil Health Card Scheme (SCHS), Pradhan Mantri FasalBima Yojana (PMFSBY), Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS), National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAET-ATMA), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and to keep them updated with the latest guidelines and norms of various programmes.
