SKPA Udhampur organizes mega plantation drive

UDHAMPUR, JULY 30: Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur today organized a mega plantation drive on the campus.

Director SKPA, Mohammad Sulaiman Salaria launched the drive by planting a sapling.

Around 500 staff members and trainees planted about 5100 sapling of different varieties including fruit plants, flower plants, Herbs/Medicinal plants etc.

The senior functionaries of Academy S. Randheer Singh, SSP, AD(Outdoor), Kamal Sharma, CPO, CLI, Dy SP’s, Staff members and special guests of Forest Department, Satish Kumar, Range Officer, Rajnish Sharma, Block Officer and Suresh Jamwal, Block officer Dy.SP (Prob), PSIs/PASIs, Intermediate Class course also planted trees.

In his address, the Director SKPA said that alarming rate of de-forestation and consequences thereof, like global warming, melting of glaciers, decreasing of water level, floods and air pollution has become a worldwide concern. He stressed that every citizen and all stakeholders should constantly and effectively participate in plantation drives. “Not only plantation is needed but also their growth and survival is required to be ensured” he added.

Salaria lauded Forest Department Udhampur, staff of the Academy and trainees of different courses for their support in organizing and making the event a success. He pledged to conduct similar plantation drives in future also. He stressed that staff and trainees must aware their family members, friends and citizens to protect the environment by planting more trees.
