RAJOURI, AUGUST 04: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired a meeting of district officers in connection with the engagement of youth in sports activities and roadmap for the “Khelo India”-sports for peace and development program.
DDC directed the DYSO to finalise the Khelo India Integrated Action Plan that will give priority to gender equality. Decision was taken to spend 54 lakhs for development of sports infrastructure in the district like play fields. Nehru Yuva Kendra was assigned the responsibility to supply material for 54 youth clubs. The BDOs were asked to provide about 19 locations, one in each block for developing Mini Stadiums.
Decision was also taken to develop 50 wrestling and kabadi fields with provision of requisite sports kits. In addition to it, youth clubs will also be provided with facilities to promote gymnastic activities.
The DDC directed the officers to work in synergy to organise sports melas and also encourage the youth and students to take part in sports activities for their overall physical and mental development.
While speaking in the meeting, the DDC said Rajouri is blessed with giant capacity in Sports Arena because of plenty of talented sport persons and the requirement of time is to tap this talent in a constructive mode so that youth can represent nation in sports activities.
The meeting was attended by CPO Abdul Hameed, DYSO Swarn Singh, DEPO Gulzar Hussain, Director sports PG College Rakesh Puri, Lead District Manager, Jk Bank Rajouri, Principal Govt. HSS Rajouri, Asstt commandant CRPF Rajouri, BDOs and other officers.
