UNHCR’s Grandi appeals to Asia-Pacific ministers, business leaders for solidarity with refugees, people of Myanmar’s Rakhine State

Chief of the UN refugee agency (UNHCR),Filippo Grandi has urged government representatives and business leaders from the Asia-Pacific region to offer more support and protection to Rohingya refugees.

He was addressing the Seventh Ministerial Conference of the Bali Process in Bali, Indonesia. He added that the real solution to the problem of Rohingya refugees lies in Myanmar itself.

The Bali Process is a forum made up of 48 Governments and four international organizations including UNHCR, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to enable dialogue and discussion on issues relating to people-smuggling, human trafficking and related cross-border crime.
