Amit Shah to address rally in Kolkata

BJP President Amit Shah will address a rally in Kolkata at 11 thismorning. West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh has written Union Home MinisterRajnath Singh and the State Chief Secretary Malay De requesting them to ensurethe safety and security of its party workers who will arrive in the city for MrShah’s rally.

The ruling Trinamool Congress has announced protest ralliesacross the state, except in Kolkata, today against the complete draft of theNational Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

State BJP vice-president JayPrakash Majumdar said, the TMC has called its rallies to attack BJP cadres andstop them from reaching the rally venue. Mr Majumdar said, the TMC wants toinstigate violence and ensure that untoward incidents take place. He said BJPhas told the chief secretary that if any untoward incident takes place, the TMCand the state government will be held responsible for it.
