Arrangements for I-Day, Buddha Amarnathji Yatra reviewed at Rajouri

RAJOURI, AUGUST 11: District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired a meeting of district and sectoral officers to review the arrangements for celebration of Independence Day and upcoming Buddha Amarnath Yatra here today.

Arrangements like sanitation, preparation of stage, seating, drinking water, security, illumination, traffic management, transport facilities for public and participating students, and others besides arrangements for ‘At home” celebration of the National Day were reviewed in detail.

Various committees for monitoring and coordinating activities like invitation, arrangement of prizes and citations apart from finalisation of parade contingents and cultural items apprised the meeting about arrangements being made. District officers also informed regarding progress on assigned duties like sanitation, seating and barricading arrangements, illumination, drinking water and electricity facilities, Public Address System, Shahnai Wadan etc.

It was decided that a full dress rehearsal will be held on August 13 to give final touch to the arrangements made for ensuring smooth and fault free celebration of national day. The meeting also reviewed arrangements for ‘At Home’ celebration of I-Day which is scheduled to be held at PWD Dak Bungalow.

The DC impressed upon the concerned officers to ensure assigned arrangements are put in place well in time for smooth celebrations of the national day. He stressed on maintaining close coordination among different departments for timely completion of arrangements.

Later, the meeting also reviewed arrangements for smooth conduct of Budha Amarnathji Yatra commencing on August 17 with concerned officers. SSP Yougal Manhas briefed about the security and traffic management plan. He said a close liaison with all security agencies is ensured for foolproof security arrangements with area domination alongside Yatra route by the forces. He added that traffic police cops will be deployed at vulnerable points and vehicle lifting cranes will kept in readiness for ensuring smooth flow of traffic and hassle free movement of Yatra vehicles.

Other arrangements like drinking water, cleanliness of the venues, construction of temporary sheds for community kitchens and langars, ration and LPG supply, toilets, medical facilities etc were also reviewed and necessary directions were given to concerned officers.

DDC Mohammad Aijaz enjoined upon officers to take care of each and every arrangements to facilitate pilgrims. He called for a well knit coordination among departments involved in Yatra arrangements and with representatives of Budha Amarnath Yatra Samiti for successful conduction of Yatra.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Avtar Singh Chib, SSP Yougal Manhas, JD Education Ved Prakash, ACR Qyoom Mir, CPO AH Chowdary, CEO Dr Tahir, ACD Akhtar Hussain Qazi, ExEns of engineering departments, representatives of army and CRPF besides other district heads.
