BUDGAM, AUGUST 11: Arrangements for ensuing Muharram-ul-Harram were reviewed today in a meeting convened under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar.
The meeting was attended by SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh, ADC Khurshid Ahmad Shah, ASP, SE Hydraulics, EXEN R&B, PHE, Electricity, SDM Khansahib, Beerwah, Chadoora, Executive officers of Municipal Communities, representatives of prominent Shia Anjumans including all Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian Darul Mustufa and Yousf Abad Budgam, All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association, All J&K Itihadul Muslemeen and Presidents of Auqaf Committees were also present.
At the outset, the representatives of various organizations put forward their issues with respect to arrangements for Muharram. Giving a patient hearing to them, the DDC assured them that all of their issues would be resolved. Further she said that the purpose to hold the meeting in advance was to seek their views and a follow up meet would also be held.
During the meeting, the CMO Budgam furnished the action plan with regard to the arrangements to be made for Muharram. The Deputy Commissioner urged the CMO to ensure that the plan is implemented in letter and spirit.
Similarly, the PDD authorities were directed to ensure High Mast lights/ Halogen Bulbs and LEDs are in place at all important places and besides ensuring generator sets are installed at identified locations, they were also directed to ensure that street lights are fully functional. The PHE authorities were directed to ensure that water tanks are provided at identified locations. Further, they were directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and drinking water during the Muharram days.
The R&B authorities were directed to ensure that the dilapidated roads if any from where the procession would take place are repaired at the earliest. The Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was directed to ensure adequate supply and prompt distribution of ration, sugar, k-oil and LPG. Regarding firewood the SFC department has been directed to dump the required quantity of firewood at already identified locations as per past practice.
Similarly the Municipal authorities were directed to ensure that there is no laxity with regard to sanitation and cleanliness and to launch a drive well in advance of Muharram. The Rural Development authorities were asked to supplement their efforts in support of municipal committees for ensuring proper sanitation and cleanliness drive during ensuing period.
Fire and Emergency Authorities were directed to remain prepared to deal with any eventuality. The ARTO was directed to ensure special transport facilities till the conclusion of the procession on day of Aashura for the convenience of the citizens in coordination with SRTC. Directing the officers vested with magisterial powers to maintain close liaison with police authorities, the District Development Commissioner directed them to ensure that there is no laxity in this regard. The District Development Commissioner impressed upon the officers to work in close coordination.
