SHOPIAN, AUGUST 11: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Owais Ahmed, today convened a meeting here to take stock of Eid-ul-Azha arrangements being made in the district.
The meeting was attended by the SP Shopian, ADC, ACR, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, District Food Safety Officer, Assistant Director FCS&CA, AC Legal Metrology, ARTO, and other concerned.
On the occasion, the DC directed the FCS&CA to ensure the availability of rice, sugar, atta, cooking gas, kerosene oil at government depots and also ensure strict implementation of government approved rate list besides the hassle-free home delivery of cooking gas supply to the consumers.
He directed the concerned to intensify market checking to keep a check on profiteering, hoarding and overcharging by shopkeepers across the district. He said that erring vendors, shopkeepers and traders should be booked for violating the rate list.
The DC also exhorted upon the Municipal Committee authorities to provide better sanitation arrangements around the shrines, masjids and Eidgahs besides installation and replacement of street lights in the town and other important religious places where big congregation are expected.
He also directed the executive engineers of PHE and PDD to sensitize their ground level staff to ensure hassle-free water and electricity supply is provided to the consumers.
The DC also directed the ARTO to ensure plying of public transport during evening times in all towns for the commuters. He directed the concerned for better transport facilities to the devotees visiting various religious places.
