BARAMULLA, AUGUST 11: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Naqash, today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to ensure that there are no shortcomings in the distribution of essential commodities like rice, sugar, and LPG in the district.
Dr Naqash exhorted upon the Executive Officers of Municipalities of Baramulla, Sopore Watergam, Uri and Kunzer to ensure proper sanitation arrangements are made in their respective jurisdictions preferably in and around the places of congregations like Jamia Masjids, Khankhas, Eidgahs and other main places of worship as per past practice.
The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon FCS&CA, Food Safety, Legal Metrology and all concerned Tehsildars to ensure market checking in their respective areas and intensify drive against erring traders involved in hoarding and profiteering.
He stressed upon the officers of PDD & PHE for providing uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply to the people on the auspicious occasion. He also directed Chief Medical Officer to ensure that medicos and para-medicos attend the duty as per the roster especially during the festive days.
While passing strict instructions to ARTO, the Deputy Commissioner directed him to constitute special teams in order to ensure hassle free traffic and to curb the menace of rash driving by bikers. He also directed Animal, Sheep Husbandry department to keep sheep, goats and poultry birds available on reasonable rates at all sale centres so that the people may not face any inconvenience.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed by the concerned that 13 spots have been identified by the respective departments for keeping sacrificial animals available for sale in view of Eid-ul-Azha in the district.
Among others, Director Planning Baramulla AG Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bashir Ahmad Bhat, District Information Officer Baramulla Chaudhary Mudasir Hussain and other concerned officers from various departments were present in the meeting.
