PM Modi calls upon IITians to make India the most attractive destination for innovation & enterprise

Prime  Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the IIT ians  to make India the most attractive destination for innovation and enterprise.

Addressing the 56th Annual Convocation of Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, Bombay. Mr. Modi said innovation is buzz world of the 21st century.

He said any society that does not innovate will stagnate. Mr. Modi asked IIT students to contribute towards mitigating climate change, ensure better agricultural productivity, cleaner energy, water conservation, combating malnutritions and effecting waste management.

Mr. Modi affirmed that the best ideas will come from Indian laboratories and from Indian students. He said that the degrees which have been conferred on the IIT students today is a result of their dedication and commitment. But  real challenges are awaiting them ahead.

The Prime Minister said that IITs have built brand India globally and they have conceptualized to contribute to nation-building through use of technology. He said students who passed out from IITs are actively contributing to the development of the country and they are also contributing in the startups.

Mr. Modi said, the nation is proud of the IITs  and what IIT graduates have achieved. The success of IITs led to the creation of engineering colleges around the country. He said the students  were inspired by the IITs and this led to India becoming one of the world’s largest pool of technical manpower.

Later, Mr. Modi also inaugurated the new building of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering; and Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay.
