In Tamilnadu, DMK will hold its executive meeting tomorrow morning as announced by its General Secretary K. Anbazhagan at the Party’s Headquarters.
In this background, today’s statements of dissatisfaction made by M.K. Azhagiri, son of late leader M.Karunanidhi an expelled leader of the party , has gained significance.
He had told a private media that tomorrow’s meet was to elevate M.K. Stalin as the President of the Party.
But the working President of the Party M.K.Stalin had earlier told the media that ‘the meeting would be to condole the passing away of the DMK Patriarch.
It was in 2014 that DMK President Karunanidhi expressed unhappiness about Alagiri’s statements on Stalin about his health. Following which Azhagiri was removed from the post of the organising secretary of the southern districts.
DMK faced the 2016 elections sans Azhagiri and the MLAs who were once close to him stood with M.K.Stalin and there were no grumblings till now.
Tamilnadu Assembly is facing a vacancy with the death of Karunanidhi, an elected representative of the Tiruvarur constituency .The death of AIADMK MLA A.K.Bose has created another vacancy in Thirupparankundram, a Madurai North Constituency.
The fate of 18 MLA’s who vowed allegience to TTV Dinakaran is also in the Courts and is to be settled even as it is three more years to go for the next Assembly election. The vibrancy in Tamilnadu politics is surely in the main stage without the presence of a legendary Kalaignar and a charismatic Jayalalitha.
