Indian embassy in Maldives celebrated the nation’s 72nd Independence Day with enthusiasm and nationalistic fervor. Indian ambassador Mr. Akhilesh Mishra unfurled the national flag in Male amidst presence of hundreds of people.
He read out the excerpts of President’s speech and remembered the great sacrifices of our freedom fighters.
The ambassador also appreciated the role of Indiancommunity in strengthening India-Maldives friendship and cooperation at the grassroots level.
Later, he inaugurated a photo exhibition on Indian freedom fighters at Indian cultural center.
A cultural programme has been scheduled in the evening to mark the occasion.
