Ashes of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to be immersed in Mandovi, Zuari rivers in Goa

The ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be immersed in the Mandovi and Zuari rivers in Goa on 24th August.

Addressing a press conference at the state BJP headquarters in Panjim today, Goa BJP general secretary Sadanand Tanawade informed that under the Asthi Kalash Visarjan programme, two urns with ashes will be taken to various places in South and North Goa districts on 23rd and 24th August for people to pay respects before immersion.

Mr Tanawade informed that Vajpayee’s ashes will be immersed in rivers across the country including Goa’s two main rivers Mandovi and Zuari.

He said Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and other Ministers and MLAs would attend the ashes immersion ceremony.

An all-party programme to pay homage to Vajpayee would be held on 30th of August in Goa. State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP from Goa Vinay Tendulkar was also present at the press conference.
