LIC relaxes claim settlement process for flood victims in Kerala

Life Insurance Corporation of India has relaxed claim settlement and documentation process for the flood victims in Kerala.

In a statement, LIC has said it will waive off the requirement of death certificates and will accept a certificate from any government official or a development officer certifying the death.

LIC has announced that it is skipping claim investigation irrespective of the policy duration and is also waiving off late fees on premium due for 30 days from the date of declaration of calamity.

It added that LIC is working with partner banks for expeditiously settling claims under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.

Additionally, LIC has set up special help desks at divisional and branch offices to respond and assist in policy enquiries and settlement. It has also appointed nodal officers for each of the 14 districts for the public to seek support.
