Rescue operations come to close in flood ravaged Kerala; focus now on relief operations

The rescue operations in the flood-ravaged Kerala drew to a close and now the focus has been shifted to flood relief operations.

With five more deaths reported yesterday the toll in the flood has risen to 228.

More than Ten lakh people are still in relief camps and the massive cleanliness drive has started in flood-hit areas. The relief camps will function till all those housed there return to their homes.

Medical teams were deputed to different districts to check the outbreak of epidemics. The road, rail and air traffic has been restored in almost all places except a few hilly regions.

The flight operations from flood-hit Cochin International Airport would resume on Sunday.
