Srinagar, Aug 23: Train service on Thursday remained suspended for the second day as a precautionary measure in the Kashmir valley, official sources said.
They said all trains in the valley remained suspended, official sources said.
They said during the Eid-ul-Fitr, there were stone pelting incidents causing damage to railway property besides some passengers were injured in the valley. To prevent such incidents this time, it was decided to suspend the train service, they said, adding that all train operating on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag- Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu have been suspended today also.
Similarly, no train will chug on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir, they said.
In the past, trains were being suspended during strike calls by separatists or any demonstration during encounters in the valley.
