August 24: The historic Chhari yatra was taken out with great pomp and religious fervour from Dashnami Akhara here today. Thousands of devotees, sadus, yatris from different parts of state and country participated in this yatra to their whole hearted obescience to lord Shiva.The Chhari yatra was commenced with Chhari Puran in early morning by chanting different mantras and bhajans at akhara mandir by His Holiness Shri Shri 1008 Rajguru Mahamandleshwar Shri Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati ji Maharaj, the head priest of the Dashnami Akhara, and then proceeded towards Budha Amarnath temple accompanied by scores of devotees from across different states.Earlier, three days “Sant Sammelan” from 21st to 23rd was also kept at Akhara mandir in which various Sants gave their religious discourses.
The Yatra left for Baba Budha Amarnath early this morning on the occasion of concluding day of annual yatra, which was started from 17th of this month, followed by guard of honour to Chhari Mubarak, the holy mace, in front gate of dashnami akhara and then the yatra proceeded by Shri Swami ji towards Shri Budha Amarnath accompanied by large numbers of pilgrims chanting Har Har Mahadev,Bam Bam Bhole amid tight security.
The Chaari Yatra was welcomed by everyone at different places like chandak where langers were organised by different religious and social organisations including army in the entire route from Poonch to Budha Amarnath.Every year various organisations keep langer facilities right from its starting point from Jammu to the ending point at Poonch.Similarly, this year yatra was welcomed at Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri, B.G and then at Poonch.
Speaking on the occasion,Shri Swamiji said that everyone should maintain peace in the region.This yatra not only means the relationship between the devotees and God but it connects this far flung part of the state to the whole india.
Swamiji thanked everyone for their cooperation in the yatra.
The speakers present on the occasion gave their views regarding this holy pilgrimage and thanked everyone for their support in the completion of this annual yatra.The speakers in one voice stressed upon that a holiday should be declared by the state government on this aspicious day.
