President Ram Nath Kovind has greeted people on the occasion of Onam, especially the people of Kerala in India and abroad.
In a message, the President said may Onam mark a new beginning for people of Kerala who are recovering in the aftermath of the recent floods.
He said, may this festival bring peace and happiness to our people, in particular to all those in Kerala who are recovering in the aftermath of the recent floods, and are gradually beginning to rebuild their lives with their characteristic grit and resilience.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has extended his greetings and good wishes to the people on the occasion of Onam.
In a tweet, Mr Naidu said, the festivities of Onam last for ten days across Kerala are marked by diverse activities ranging from boat races, dance events to floral designs and martial arts competitions. He said, may the festival usher in peace, prosperity and happiness in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Onam. In his message, Mr Modi expressed the hope that Onam will give further strength to the people of Kerala to overcome the adversities they have been facing for the past few days due to floods.
He said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with Kerala and prays for the happiness as well as the prosperity of its citizens.
