In Iran, at least two people were killed and over 200 injured in a strong six magnitude earthquake that struck near the border with Iraq this morning. The US Geological Survey said the quake hit the Javanrud city in Kermanshah province, near the site of last year’s 7.3 magnitude quake that killed 620 people.
Authorities said, today’s quake was followed by at least 21 aftershocks, and there were potential problems with drinking water due to damaged infrastructure in villages. There are reports that the quake was also felt far across the border into Iraq.
