M K Stalin elected unopposed as DMK party President

M.K.Stalin was declared unopposed as the DMK President at the party’s General Council Meeting today. The Party’s General Secretary K.Anbalagan announced that Mr.Stalin will be the new President of the Party.

The meeting held at the Party Headquarters in Chennai passed resolutions condoling the death of late Karunanidhi, former Prime Minister A.B.Vajpayee, former Speaker of Lok Sabha Somnath Chatterjee, victims of Tuticorin violence and the Kerala floods.

DMK’ s Thalapathi, the lieutenant became the thalaivar today, M.K.Stalin, the state opposition leader and the DMK’s working President was elevated to the post of the President on being elected unopposed.

Accepting the felicitations of the leaders, the newly elected President described his father as an incomparable personality.

Giving a clarion call to his fellowmen to join hands with him to stride forward in the political journey, he told that he wanted to see a new dawn.

Mr.Stalin took over the reins of the DMK as the second President after late Karunanidhi who held the post for nearly five decades.
