On the 13th day of action at the Asian Games in Indonesia today, Indian women’s squash team beat Malaysia in the semi-finals 2-0 and will vie for gold. The Indian men’s team will also play Hong Kong in the squash semi-final match later in the day.
Indian boxer Vikas Krishan (75kg) settled for a bronze medal after he was declared medically unfit to fight his semifinal bout due to a cut on his left eyelid sustained earlier in the event.
In Soft Tennis, India Women’s team beat Mongolia in Preliminary round 3-0. However, India’s men’s team lost to Cambodia in a preliminary Group C match. In Table Tennis, Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra crashed out after losing in respective men’s and women’s singles Round of 16.
In rest of events today, the Indian women’s hockey team will be in action for the final time at the Asian Games 2018, as a gold medal will be at stake when they face Japan. All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the match from 6.25 p.m. onwards.
India’s Ragino Kiro and Naocha Singh Laitonjam will be competing in the Kayak single (K1) 200m men’s and women’s semifinal later in the day. Apart from this, India will compete in the Canoe double (C2) 200 men’s semis.
Roller Skaters Amitesh Mishra and Harshveer Singh Shekon will go for gold along with women’s team. Sailing will also see its closure with the final race of the event in various categories.
India’s medals tally as of now remains at 59 with 13 Gold, 21 Silver and 25 Bronze. China leads the tally followed by Japan.
