An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi today handed death sentences to two men over the murder of a politician from Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Tehrik-e-Insaf party.
The PTI leader was killed on the eve of re-polling on Karachi’s National Assembly constituency, NA-250, in 2013.
The ruling came five years after gunmen killed 60-year-old Zahra Shahid, who was a provincial vice president of Khan’s party at the time.
The two men Mohammad Rashid and Zahid Abbas – were members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement party and had confessed to their involvement in the murder. Shahid was shot twice in the head outside her home in Karachi, the capital of Sindh province.
