J&K: Three terrorists killed, soldier martyred in security operations in Bandipora

In Jammu & Kashmir, three unidentified terrorists were killed in a counter-terrorist operation that concluded in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district today. One soldier also lost his life.

The operation continued for last three days in higher reaches of Danna forests in Bandipora district.

Security sources said that one among two army soldiers sustaining injuries during the operation yesterday also succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

The condition of another injured soldier is stated to be stable.

Defence spokesman told media that a counter-terrorist operation was launched in Danna forest area of the district on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.

He said that as the joint forces reached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened gunfire triggering gunfight.

In the ensuing gunfight, three heavily armed terrorists were killed. The identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained.

He said weapons and other warlike stores were recovered from the encounter site.
