Forces launch search operation in Tral in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 11: Security forces on Tuesday launched a cordon-and-search-operation at Ameerabad village in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police official said the operation was launched following “specific inputs” about the presence of militants.

Forces’ personnel comprising Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Ameerabad village and launched searches.

As per locals, the searches were carried out several times in the area. The operation was on for hours together.

They said that the forces had sealed all the entry and exit points. People from many adjoining villages could not move out due to heavy deployment of forces.

The operation was called off after no contact was established with the militants, said an official.
