SHO attached as drug peddlers escape from police custody

Jammu, Sep 12: A Station House Officer has been attached while four other cops were suspended in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir in the backdrop of drug peddlers escaping from the police custody.

“Following escape of two drug peddlers among three accused from custody in Udhampur Police Station during the intervening night of September 10-11, SSP Udhampur has ordered transfer and attachment of the concerned SHO, Vijay Singh Choudhary, and immediate suspension of four cops besides registration of a case against the Sentry, who has been arrested for questioning,” a senior police officer said here on Wednesday.

Two narcotic smugglers namely Iftikhar Ali of Kotli Bains Udhampur and Parvinder Singh alias Pammu of Talab Salain Udhampur, who were under arrest in NDPS cases, fled along with a theft suspect, from Police Station Udhampur due to the grave negligence of the Sentry on duty, sources said.

SSP Udhampur Raees Bhat however, immediately ordered suspension of Head Constable Qasim, Head Constable Parshotam, SGCt Des Raj and SGCt Daleep Singh.

“An FIR was also registered against duty sentry while SHO Choudhary has been attached to the District Police Lines,” sources added.
