Jammu, Sep 15: Protest triggered on Saturday after a man died of electrocution while two women suffered injuries in Pargwal area of Akhnoor here on the city outskirts.
“Due to short circuit in high tension wire during wee hours on Saturday at village N S Pura in Pargwal sector, Khour, one person identified as Parmanand, 70, died,” police sources here said.
They said two women — Rajni Devi, 24 and Nisha Devi,17, both residents of N S Pura also suffered injuries and were shifted to PHC Pargwal.
Police said one cow also died and a kulla (hutment) turned into ashes due to fire.
Locals and family members, however, also staged protest demanding compensation and job for the family members of the deceased.
Sub District Magistrate along with police rushed to the spot to pacify the situation.
