Thirty-three kg banned forest produce seized in Ramban

Jammu, Sep 15: A team of Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department on Saturday seized banned forest produce (Nag chatri) from a bus in Ramban district.

“A forest team recovered 33 kg Nagchhatri (Trillium Govanianum)-a banned Minor Forest Produce, which was being sent to Delhi from Kishtwar through a courier,” official sources here said.

They said the herb was seized by Forest team led by Range Officer, SS Chib and assisted by Forester, Harveer Singh and Watchman, Riaz Ahmed.

“Contained in 3 bags the consignment was seized from Jammu bound bus (JK02BE-9495) during a routine naka (checking) at Forest Check Post at Batote this morning,” they added.
