Srinagar, Sep 16: Life remained crippled for the second day on Sunday in twin districts of Kulgam and Anantnag in south Kashmir, where five militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter by security forces at village Chowgam Qazigund on Saturday.
Mobile internet service of all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and train service also remained suspended for the second day on Sunday.
Shops and business establishments, which are functioning on Sundays also, remained closed at Devsar, Kulgam, Damhal Hanjipora, Yaripora and Qaimoh towns and adjacent villages.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway also witnessed a complete shut down, official sources said adding Mir Bazar, Anantnag town and adjoining areas too are shut against the killings.
Five militants and a civilian residents of Kulgam and Anantnag districts were killed in an encounter and security force action at Chowgam yesterday. Nearly two dozen protesters were injured in clashes near the encounter site.
