RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 22: District Information Centre, Ramban today organized a symposium on the topic “How to prevent society from female foeticide”, here at DISHA Institute of Paramedical & Nursing Science.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Saif-Ud-Din Khan was the chief guest.
Around 10 students of the Institute participated in the symposium and expressed their valuable views on the topic.
The Speakers suggested several techniques and ideas to control this malpractice in hospitals and ultrasound clinics.
Faheem Akram was declared best speaker, while Muzafar Ahmed and Vikas Sharma secured second and third positions, respectively.
In his address, the CMO informed that the enforcement team is on job to control illegal practice in district. While appreciating the role of Information Department, he said that it was an effort to generate awareness among the masses on female foeticide and the Pre-conception (PC) and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC& PNDT). He urged upon the students to disseminate awareness among the general masses for uprooting the menace of female foeticide from the society.
Faculty members also highlighted the importance of generating awareness among the masses regarding the negative social impact of declining sex ratio.
Head of the Institute thanked the department for organizing such a programme in the Institute.
Besides the competition, a colourful cultural programme was also presented by the artists and students.
Later, certificates and trophies were given away to the best performers.
