Vice President urges ISRO scientists to play important role in expanding citizen centric services

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidutoday asked ISRO scientists to play an important role in expanding citizencentric services by providing Satellite Data and help in formulating strategiesfor better Governance. Addressing scientists at the National Remote SensingCentre in Hyderabad this morning, he asked them to focus on the requirements ofthe common man, especially of farmers.

Mr Naidu also stressed on the needfor utilising satellite data for planning Inter-linking of rivers in thecountry. He exuded confidence that the ISRO, which has so far launched 239foreign satellites of 28 countries,  will be a leading player in thecommercial satellite launch market in the world. The Vice President alsointeracted with the ISRO team scientists of Antarctica through videoconference.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion,ISRO Chairman K Sivan said Chandrayan- 2 may be taken up on January 3rd nextyear. He also said that ISRO will take up 18 projects including ten satellitelaunches during the next six months.
