KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 29: The students spread cleanliness message through skits and debates as they celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi here at of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Mahanpur.
The program was organized under the aegis of ’Swachhta Hi Seva Hai’ campaign by the Rural Development Department.
Additional District Development commissioner Kathua, Dr. Shubra Sharma was the chief guest and ADC Basholi, Sanjay Gupta was the guest of honor.
A ‘Swachhta Rally’ was also flagged taken out in which the participants resolved to create clean and healthy surroundings. Plantation drive was also launched to spread the message of clean and green surroundings.
The ADDC appreciated the efforts of Rural Development Department in organizing the programs to sensitize the villagers and students regarding the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
ADC Basholi urged the stakeholders to stop the use of polythene in day to day life. He said that the water supply schemes of the area will be augmented to provide water to school and public toilets. He further stated that dustbins will be provided at all the Govt. offices and Shopkeepers of Mahanpur area to segregate and manage the waste. Rs. 25 Lakh has been specially earmarked for construction of toilet complex in Mahanpur, ADC added and informed that it will help in making Mahanpur ODF.
DPO, Tehsildar Mahanpur, Principal Hr. Sec. School and students in large numbers were present at the program.
