Tragic Road accident kills 20 and severely injures 12; Passenger vehicle falls into 500 ft deep gorge in Ramban

Ramban, Oct 6 Epilogue: As per latest information with this news channel nearly 20 persons were killed and 12 others seriously injured when a passenger vehicle lost control and skidded off the road near Kayla Mode in Ramban district along Srinagar-Jammu highway. The incident happened around 11 am, on Saturday morning.

Vijay Kotwal, the concerned SHO when contacted immediately after the incident was on scene along with DDC Ramban, said to Epilogue correspondent that the vehicle (Matador JK19-1593 over turned and rolled down about 500ft deep into gorge near Kayla mode in Ramban. While speaking to the Epilogue correspondent, District Development Commisioner, Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat said, the district administration swiftly acted with its rescue team with its first priority to shift the injured to hospital. The district administration acting on a war footing pressed Chopper into service which made six sorties to shift the injured to Army Command Hospital, Udhampur being the nearest and one of the best facilities in state.

DDC Ramban further told our network that the ill fated matador was coming from Banihal to Ramban and the accident took place near Kayla mode, 4 kilometers from Ramban when the driver who was an experienced one lost control of the vehicle possibly due to mechanical failure leading to this grave mishap.

District Administration was supported by the locals in large numbers in rescue operations and it took a considerable effort to reach to the ill fated matador which had gone nearly 500 ft deep.
