China tight-lipped on Interpol President Meng Hongwei’s disappearance

The Interpol has officially asked China for information regarding the disappearance of the agency’s President Meng Hongwei on a trip to China. According to CNN, Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock said that Interpol has requested through official law enforcement channels clarification from China’s authorities on the status of Interpol President Meng Hongwei.

However, the Chinese government has not said anything publicly yet about Meng’s disappearance. The Chinese local media reports claim that Meng is under investigation in China for unspecified reasons.
