In a continued bid to smoke out militants in South Kashmir region of valley which is currently witnessing a spurt of militant activities security forces launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in several villages of Jammu and Kashmir”s Shopian district on Sunday.
Police sources said. the joint teams of police, CRPF and Army launched a cordon and search operation in six villages of Shopian district of south Kashmir early this morning. CASO has launched on a tip off about the presence of militants in area and few villages Balpora, Barthipora, Wathoo, Ganowpora and Shirmal villages are under scanner.
The district administration too has been placed of high alert and preparedness considering the Local bodies elections are taking place in state and there are firm apprehensions that the militants might consider attacking soft targets.
