Leh: Oct. 08, 2018:
55.2 percent electorates exercised their right of franchise to elect the members for Municipal Committee (MC) Leh as voting passed off peacefully in all the 21 polling stations today under vigorous supervision of Deputy Commissioner Leh, Avny Lavasa who is also the District Election Officer, Leh.
Leh Municipal area has a total of 14,401 electorates with 7,142 male and 7,259 female voters. Of which 7,810 voters that included 3,780 male voters and 4,030 female voters have exercised their voting rights today. Long queues of enthusiastic voters have seen at many polling stations during the peak hours of the day.
The fate of 29 candidates -19 males and 10 females, who were in the fray for 13 wards of Municipal Leh has been sealed in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), which will be opened on Oct. 20th.
To ensure free, fair and smooth polling, District Election Officer / Deputy Commissioner Leh visited various polling booths during the polling. The SP Leh, Sargun Shukla also took round of some polling stations to oversee the security measures.
