Ex Chief Minister of J&K State, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the loss of slain militant Munan Wani in an encounter with security forces in Handwara today afternoon.
Posting a tweet she said, “Today a PhD scholar chose death over life & was killed in an encounter. His death is entirely our loss as we are losing young educated boys everyday. It is high time that all the political parties in the country realize the gravity of this situation and try to facilitate a solution through dialogue with all the stakeholders including Pakistan to end this bloodshed”
State BJP president Ravinder Raina in an interview was categorical and candid in stating that all those who choose the path of violence and gun will face the same fate. He further added that all those who pick gun against the Nation will be handed the same treatment.
Meanwhile, Joint Resistance League (JRL), Srinagar calls for complete shutdown tomorrow (Friday) to pay Homage to slain Manan Wani
Mirwaiz Omar Farooq in a tweet appealed people to observe complete shutdown over killing of Manan Wani. In a tweet Mirwaiz said “Alas! Heard the tragic news of #MananWani’s Martyrdom and of his associates! Deeply pained that we lost a budding intellectual and writer like him,fighting for the of cause of self-determination. JRL appeals to people to observe a complete Shutdown tomorrow to pay homage to him”
Clashes between the security forces and people have erupted in Handwara and adjoining areas after the news of encounter and killing of two terrorists became viral. The whole valley has been put on high alert and security beefed up. The J&K police however has said they are ready to face any eventuality and the forces are on high mobilization.
