One hundred and two MPs have contributed over 43 crore rupees from Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme, MPLADS fund for rehabilitation works in flood affected areas of Kerala. MPLADS has a provision for Members to contribute funds for rehabilitation and reconstruction works in the areas affected by severe calamity.
As per guideline of the Scheme, an MP can contribute upto one crore from their MPLADS fund for the area affected by severe calamity. Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in a release said, 56 Rajya Sabha Members have contributed around 30 crore rupees, while 46 Lok Sabha Members have contributed over 14 crore rupees.
The Ministry said, 14 MPs of Uttar Pradesh, 11 MPs of Maharashtra, nine MPs of Bihar and seven MPs of Gujarat among others have contributed for the rehabilitation works.
