Seven Winning BJP candidates from Municipal Council Sopore join Janta Dal United in Kashmir

In a surprising development around 7 BJP winning candidates in ULB elections on Sunday have resigned and joined the Janta Dal (United) party in Kashmir today.

All these winning candidates were elected to Municipal Council Sopore of district Baramulla of Kashmir valley.

Noteworthy, BJP had secured a majority in MC Sopore by winning 7 Wards in total of 8 Wards which had gone to polls in ULB elections, 1 Ward had gone to Independent candidate. MC Sopore has total 21 Wards and 13 Wards are still vacant due to non filling of nomination in ULB election.

These winning candidates Abida Riyaz of Ward No-4, Riyaz Ahmad Dar of Ward No-5, Shamas Din Peer of Ward No-2, Saima Begum of Ward No-1, Javid Ahmad Bhat of Ward No-3, Abdul Ahad Malla of Ward No-17, Syed Ayoub of Ward No-21 were inducted in party fold in presence of state President G M Shaheen, JD (U) and other senior party leaders at Rajbagh Srinagar in a impressive function here today.

Shaheen while welcoming them in the party appreciated their bold decision for rejecting the BJP which only works for theis own benefit and vested interest  by ignoring the sentiments of the people of J&K.

He further said that party has already opened its doors for all whosoever join the JDU any time are welcome and added that JDU will soon announce its Municipal Chairman for Langate, Tral, Watergam, Sopore, Rafiabad, and Bherwah.

Earlier, Shaheen also met Governor S P Malik at Raj Bhawan Srinagar and apprised him about the problems being faced by the candidates over delaying in announcing the results at SKICC who are waiting for their results from 9 am to 6 pm which put question mark over transparent and fair elections.
