Asian Champions Trophy: India to face Malaysia tomorrow

In Men’s Hockey, India will face Malaysia tomorrow in their fourth round-robin match of Asian Champions Trophy at Muscat, Oman.

The match will begin at 10.40 p.m. (IST).

India thrashed Japan 9-0 in their third round-robin match last night. Harmanpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Lalit Upadhaya netted a brace each for India, with Akashdeep Singh, Gurjant Singh and Kothajit Singh being the other goal scorers.

It was India’s third straight win of the tournament, and they have strengthened their chances of making it to the semi-finals.

India had registered a convincing 11-0 win over hosts Oman in their opening game, before beating arch-rivals Pakistan, 3-1 on Saturday.

After tomorrow’s match, India will next meet South Korea on Wednesday which will be their last and final round-robin match.

At the end of the round-robin stage, the top four of the total six participating teams will play in the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be played on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
