Mughal road closed for traffic after fresh snowfall

Srinagar : Following the fresh snowfall in the high altitude areas including Pir Ki Gali on Tuesday, the traffic authorities closed the Mughal Road for vehicular traffic.

The Mughal road- connecting the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Shopian district was closed today late in the afternoon following the fresh snowfall in the area.

“We have closed the road for vehicular traffic due to slippery road conditions in view of the snowfall,” a traffic officer (DTI), Irshad Ahmad told the news agency.

He said that they have asked the officials at Shopian as well not to allow the traffic on the road as a precautionary measure.

The road will be re-opened once the weather conditions improve, the officer said.
