J&K Police and joint teams of Security Forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in village Athoora of Police Station Kreeri,Baramulla today morning. While the search operation was going on, the joint team of security forces came under a heavy gun fire from militants hiding in a house.
As per Police sources, an effort to call for surrender was made to the militants who paid no heed to repeated offers of surrender ultimately triggering a response from the security forces leading to a heavy exchange from both sides.
In the exchange of gunfire two militants got killed whose identity is yet to be ascertained. One AK serie rifle and one Insas rifle and other arms and ammunition was recovered from the possession of killed militants and from the site of encounter.
In another incident in Arwani area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, as per police sources a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Arwani today afternoon.led to this encounter. So far five militants have been killed and searches are underway at the gunfight site.
The identity of one of the militant has been established as Sahil Makroo of Arwani. The identity of other militants neutralized is yet to be ascertained.
The killing of militants led to intense protest in area and pitch battle between the locals and security forces carried on for a long while.
As per latest information available with our network, militants attacked 42 RR manning gate of their camp in Nadar area of Tral here this evening. In exchange of fire two soldiers were badly injured leading to the martyrdom of one soldier on way to military hospital.
