Srinagar : Following a gunfight that begun on Saturday early morning and ended up with the killing of two militants, a shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district to mourn the killings.
The two slain militants reportedly were affiliated with Hizb ul-Mujahideen outfit. Earlier an official said that an encounter started after a joint team of army’s 55RR, 180/183 BN CRPF and SOG cordoned off Tikken area of Pulwama after getting specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon security forces triggering an encounter.
Initial reports suggest that as the news of killing of two militants spread, all the shops in the area were closed and traffic is off the roads.
